Investigate Allegations By Bugri Naabu Against Madam Otiko Djaba - Governance Watch GH

May 10, 2017

Pressure is mounting on the police to invite two leading members of the ruling NPP to answer questions with regards to the gruesome murder of the late Adams Mahama, former Upper East chairman of the NPP.

Mr. Mahama was attacked by some unknown assailants with acid and later died at the hospital.
Younger brother of suspended NPP chairman Mr. Paul Afoko is currently on trial for the death of Mr Mahama, however following the fracas that ensued between Gender and social protection minister Ms Otiko Djaba and NPP Northern Regional chairman Mr. BUGRI Naabu, Mr Naabu have accused Ms. Djaba of masterminding the murder of Mr. Adams.

A group in Accra called Governance Watch has petitioned the police to invite the two answer to the revelations.
In a statement signed by three members of the group, they sated that they are of the firm believe that the issue is a serious one and must not be taken lightly

Below is the full statement from the group

INVESTIGATE ALLEGATIONS BY BUGRI NAABU AGAINST MADAM OTIKO DJABA
- GOVERNANCE WATCH GH.

We add our voice to calls by a section of Ghanaians for investigations to be instituted into allegations made by the Northern Regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bugri Naabu connecting the Minister for Gender and Social Protection, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba to the murder of the late Chairman Adams of the NPP.

We are of a firm believe that this issue is one that must be taken serious and visited with the urgency that it deserves.

As a result of the murder of the said Chairman Adams, a young man is languishing in the custody of the Ghana Police Service as the alleged murderer in the case. A prove of this allegation may just ensure justice is rightly served to the young man.

In addition, considering the portfolio of the accused person, Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba, it is important for the president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to relieve her of her duty and cause investigations to be instituted into the allegations to establish the truth or otherwise and to show leadership and the commitment to rule of law.

We call on the Ghana Police Service to, as a matter of urgency, proceed to invite the accused to respond to the allegations levelled against her in order to lay the allegations of Mr. Bugri Naabu to rest.

Thank you.

Signed:
Stephen Kwabena Attuh (Executive Director)

Adomako Fred William (Deputy Director)
