Buah FIRES Osafo Marfo - Is Electricity CHEAP now?
May 17, 2017

Member of Parliament for Ellembele and minority ranking member on energy Hon Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah has accused Snr Minister Hon Nana Yaw Osafo Marfo for displaying double standards with regards to how much Ghanaians should realistically pay for electricity.
Hon. Yaw Osafo Marfo during the just ended two day National Policy Summit warned Ghanaians to be ready to pay more for electricity to save the nation's premier energy generating company the VRA from collapsing.
But in a sharp response from the former Petroleum minister under the Mahama led NDC, Hon Osafo Marfo was not spared for exhibiting double standards as he and his NPP then in opposition seriously opposed the NDC government's attempt to making consumers paying realistic prices for the energy they consumed, during the 2016 electioneering campaign then candidate Akufo-Addo now President of Ghana kept telling Ghanaians that electricity under John Mahama was expensive than rent and emphatically promised to reduce electricity bills when voted for and in responding to Hon Osafo Marfo, Hon
Buah also asked"Is electricity now cheaper than rent" ?.
The legislator wrote
"Hon Osafo Manu has just called on Ghanaians to pay the right tarrifs for VRA to survive. Where has he been all this time.
How can Ghanaians take him serious when for the last four years all efforts by the NDC to put in exactly these measures to ensure our energy security has been resisted by the NPP in opposition. When the energy sector levies was enacted the NPP in opposition condemned it and promised to scrap it.
When the MCC compact was negotiated to reform ECG they colluded with secttions of ECG workers to sabotage it.
So what is Hon Osafo Marfo saying today? What is good for Ghana must be good for Ghana at all times not only when you are in power.
Decerning Ghanaians are watching. The chicken has come home to roost."
