It has emerged that the NPP government did actually planned a heroic welcome for President Akufo-Addo after they had been made to believe that he was coming home with the ECOWAS chairmanship.
President Akufo-Addo had embarked on a breathtaking marathon campaign for the Sub Regional body(ECOWAS) chairmanship and was very certain of annexing the position from Monrovia but was heavily trashed by the Togolese President, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbè.
The government through it's Foreign Affairs minister Shirley Ayorkor Botwe issued a denial that there was an election and that the ECOWAS chairmanship slot is rotational, an assertion that later turned out to be false as it emerged that there was indeed an election.
A week after the embarrassing debacle, pictures have popped up on social media of dumped placards ostensibly designed to welcome the President should he have won the elections in Monrovia.
Our checks from our sources at the Flagstaff house corroborated the dumped placards and added that an amount of ghc 450,000 was released by the Chief of Staff for mobilising and busing of 3, 000 NPP foot soldiers to welcome Akufo-Addo.
Some of the inscriptions on the placards read: "You conquered Ghana, Now ECOWAS" "THE LEADERSHIP ECOWAS HAS BEEN WAITING FOR; COMPETENT, EXPERIENCED, INTELLIGENT. CONGRATS NANA" "TIME FOR ECOWAS TO HAVE COMPETENT LEADERSHIP; NANA AKWAABA.... ETC.
We publish for our readers some of the dumped placards.
