President Akufo has made a donation to the tune of $2 million to the French government as Ghana’s contribution towards rebuilding the Notre Dame Cathedral that was gutted by fire a few weeks ago.
The contribution, according to the President, is Ghana’s “humble contribution towards rebuilding an international emolument that glorifies the Christian community across the world”.
In a short note attached to the donations, the president stated that Ghana has benefitted immensely from France and the time is here for Ghana to reciprocate especially at this material moment that France faces international sympathy.
The over 800 year facility was recently gutted by fire in the full helpless glare of the public a few weeks ago.
Few days after the French President made the pledge to rebuild the Cathedral to its former state, billionaires of France and elsewhere have made pledges to ensure the Cathedral is rebuilt.
His Excellency President Akufo-Addo seeks to use this donations to restore strong ties between Ghana and France.
