There is fear and mayhem in Odumase Krobo in the Lower Manya district of the Eastern Region where the DCE ordered the Ghana Police Service to open fire on innocent unarmed civilians demonstrating against unfair billing by the Power Distribution Services (PDS).
Residents of Krobo Odumase for sometime now have been complaining about unfair billing from the PDS. Whiles they were trying to resolve the problem, a team of PDS staff with armed police officers stormed the town to embark on a disconnection exercise.
This infuriated the people of Odumase Krobo who took to the streets to protest. Our reports suggest that the spontaneous protest was peaceful. However the DCE ordered the police to open fire on the unarmed demonstrators killing 3 and leaving 9 fighting for their lives whilst another 35 of them have been arrested and in police custody.
At the time of filling this report activities in the town have come to a standstill with visible signs of tension all over.
Stay tuned for more developments.
