In what appears to be a grand scheme of create, loot and share game in the raging missing 500 excavators, former minister for Lands and Natural Resources and now Energy Minister, Mr. John Peter Amewu has also been fingered as a beneficiary of the missing excavators.
In his caution statement to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service, Mr. Ekow Ewusi, the Deputy Central Regional Vice Chairman of the NPP stated that when the excavators were seized by the Inter Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, some top brass of the government were offered some seized excavators.
Mr. Ewusi mentioned the Current Minister for Energy, then minister for Lands and Natural Resources as a beneficiary of 20 of the seized excavators.
According to him the Minister sent some people to come move the 20 excavators to an unknown location.
It will be recalled that Mr. Peter Amewu told Ghanaians that government had procured drone worth $ 3 million dollars for the fight against the Galamsey menace.
