Opuni And Agongo's Trial Judge Endorses Akufo-Addo For 4 More Years

February 19, 2020

The Paramount Chief of the Nyagbo Traditional Area, Torgbui Ashui Nyagasi V, at a recent durbar of Chiefs and people of Nyagbo openly endorsed President Akufo-Addo for another term in office.

According to the Chief whose name is Justice Clemence Jackson Honyenugah, the president must be congratulated “for the excellent manner” he was governing the nation, explaining that voting for Nana Addo on December 7 will only allow him to continue his vision and gains made in his first term.

This call did not seem to go down well with his subjects. Many of them murmured in disapproval of their chief’s assertion that the President had done well in his first term, asking for the evidence of the so called good governance. Those who expressed their reservations said the call coming from Torgbui Nyagasi was preposterous considering the timing, when Ghanaians were disgusted with the vanishing of gold and excavators among other scandals. They were thus scandalized that their chief was setting himself up for ridicule and wished he had left the decision to retain the president for them to make at the polls.

One of the disenchanted youth who gave his name as Kobla told this reporter that Justice Clemence Jackson Honyenugah is also a well-known judge so he personally expected a better sense of judgement from him. He was visibly worried that his revered Chief and respected Judge was gradually becoming a political puppet.

Apparently this is the same judge sitting on the case involving Mr. Opuni and Mr. Agongo, the former Chief Executive of Cocobod and a businessman respectively. Already that case has a lot of political undertones hence the general public expects some circumspection when the Judge is tempted to display his partisan biases. It is alleged that following his infamous call for four more years for Nana, he is being considered to be promoted to the Supreme Court if Nana retains power.
